Confirmation of new site, changes

Hi parents of DCP!

Firstly, allow me to thank each and every one of you that Sara, Ana, Ninder and I have managed to talk to today on the phone about the developments that have taken place over the weekend. You have been so understanding of the teething problems we’ve been having that we just feel very blessed and grateful. I think we left messages on answering machines for some of you, and we hope you’ve managed to get to them (and we apologise for calling you on a Sunday but it could not be helped). Please do not hesitate to call me or any of the interim board members for clarification if necessary.

Also, we want to apologise for not having emailed all of you on Friday about the confirmation of our site at the WRECK Center. But YES, we’re confirmed using the Center as a temporary site for our school, so that is one piece of good news for us. We will be moving our things in as soon as tomorrow because it was the only day we could get the movers to come on short notice.

The other piece of news we wanted to share with you (which is why we’ve had to call you today) is that Ms. Helen Deems, our Twos teacher, has decided not to join the Cooperative. She tendered her resignation last Friday due to a variety of reasons. However, thanks to Marion Holland, our liaison from LWTC, we’ve managed to scare up a substitute in just TWO days (and the weekend at that). Her name is Ginny Bearson, who used to teach at the Redmond Toddler Group. Ginny has some 20 years of experience working as a teacher in the cooperative environment. She will be subbing as the Twos teacher for as long as it takes for us to find a suitable permanent replacement.

Under these circumstances, the interim board held an emergency meeting today and has decided on the following changes:

1. We have decided that it makes more sense to postpone the Open House tomorrow to Sept 17 2007, and hold it the site proper. We will be busy with the move and it just makes more sense to pace ourselves with all the changes we’ve had to work with. The Open House on the first day of school will be a soft start, in that there will only be one hour of school. For the Twos, it will be from 9.30am to 10.30am. For the Multiage it will from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

2. The first day of school is postponed TWO DAYS to Wednesday Sept 19th 2007. We have decided that because of all these postponements, that it’s only fair we take only half a month of tuition for September. We will pro-rate it for those of you who have paid. For those who have not, please bring only half of your September tuition payments to the Elections/Risk Management Training on Sept 13th (along with the Immunization Forms and PPA).

3. The Elections and Risk Management Training remains on Sept 13th 2007, 7 – 9pm at the WRECK Center (when, hopefully, the school will be almost ready and all of you will be able to view the classroom).

Once again, thank you so much for your understanding and your unwavering support for our fledgling co-op. It makes all the sleepless nights and constant worrying worth while.
